Pronunciation Courses
Problems of Pronunciation
Various problems can afflict the non-native speaker of the English language. Indeed, pronunciation remains one of the most difficult aspects of the language. Symptoms of a problem include any of the following:
- You have difficulty in pronouncing certain words.
- Others misunderstand you regularly
- You have to repeat yourself often to native, English speakers.
- You have trouble in understanding spoken English
- You cannot always differentiate between different, English sounds.
- You have no idea of the pronunciation of new, English words you come across.
Important Points in teaching Pronunciation
- Understandable - Can students identify the sounds and can native speakers understand what students say?
- Social Approval - Does the student's speech have a pleasing sound to the native ear?
- Ease of Production - Can students physically learn to make the sounds?
- Regular Appearance in Essential Words - do the sounds regularly appear in essential and/or useful words?
- Bad Sounds Affecting Other Sounds - are the mistakes badly affecting other sounds?
Our pronunciation courses focus on recognition and production.
Production skills are not so difficult to improve, as consonant sounds are produced at the front of the mouth, and, physically, this skill can be improved.
Many pronunciation course offered by other language schools are limited to inaccurate imitation, but we, at Personal English, can focus directly on the obstacles in the way of accurate speech, and train the student through steady practice.
You really will notice a difference!
