Accent Softening?
What is Accent Softening
Accent Softening is a system of teaching that aims to change an accent so as to resemble a native speaker's.
It involves learning the phonology of that language.
In order to do this, the student must learn the characteristics of English in terms of pronunciation, speech patterns, and speech habits.
In a physical sense, the student will adapt new positions with their mouth, teeth, and tongue to form vowel and consonant sounds.
Intonation and stress patterns are extremely important too.
If an effort is made, a student can have great success in changing their accent to that of one more resembling a native, English speaker. This should improve the clarity of communication.
